Charlbi Dean was born on February 5, 1990, in Cape Town, South Africa. She was an actress, known for her Spud (2010), Don't Sleep (2017), and Blood in the Water (2016). She died on August 29, 2022, in New York City, New York, USA. Her Birth name is Charlbi Dean Kriek and her height was 5' 7¾" (1.72 m).

Early Career :

Dean grew up in Cape Town where she was born. When she was six years old, she started modeling and appeared in advertisements and catalogs. When she was 12 years old, she signed with Alfa Model Management. She started homeschooling at the age of 14. She commuted between Cape Town and the Waterfront Theater School, where she studied.

Dean and fellow model Ashton Schnehage escaped a car accident in October 2008. She was admitted to Milnerton Medi-Clinic and underwent surgery that saved her life. She suffered a collapsed lung, a broken wrist, and four broken ribs. After the accident, she decided to take a career break. Dean made her acting debut in the 2010 Spud movie as Amanda, a part she would later reprise in the Spud 2 movie. She later appeared in the film Don't Sleep in 2017. During the same year, she landed the role of Syonide, a recurring character she played for two seasons of the DC Universe series Black Lightning.


She died suddenly in New York City on 29 August 2022 at the age of 32, ahead of the Triangle of Sadness wide release, from what was described as a sudden illness. Rolling Stone has confirmed.
